Dig Deeper:
1. Do you think people ask big questions to themselves like “Where did I come from”? Why?
2. Describe a time when someone asked you a big question that you didn’t have the answer to. How did you find the answer?
3. What are some answers you may hear if you asked people, “Where did you come from?”
4. Read Genesis 1:1 and Psalm 90:2. What existed in the beginning? Why was God already at the beginning?
5. Read Psalm 33:6. What does “ex nihilo” mean? How did God create the heavens and the earth?
6. Read Job 38:4. How does knowing that nothing exists without God’s power or providence shape your view of God?
7. Review the days of creation. Why might God have chosen this order for creation? What patterns or rhythms do you see?
8. Why can’t order come from chaos? How do we know that God created everything with intention and purpose? Who is the creator of confusion and chaos?
9. Read Psalm 19:1-2. How do the heavens declare God’s glory?
10. Read Genesis 1:26 and John 1:1-3. Why is the pronoun “our” used here?
11. What is man to do? What does “rule” mean in this context?
12. Read Genesis 1:27. What does it mean that man is created in God’s own image? What is the image of God?
13. Did God create us because He needed us? Why did He create us? What attributes of God does that reveal to you?
14. Read Colossians 1:15-17. What does it mean that everything has been created “through him and for him”? What’s the difference between through and for? Why is that important?
15. How does knowing that “by him all things hold together” shape your view of God?
16. What would it look like to be in a perfect relationship with God, like with Adam and Eve? Provide specific details.
17. Read Romans 10:13-18. What is our mission as a follower of Christ? Why?
18. Read Romans 1:19-20. How does God, through creation, communicate to us that He is powerful and real? Provide examples.
19. What details can you share with someone who might ask you, “Where did I come from”?

Live It Out:

What is your response to God, the creator of the heavens and earth…and YOU!? Since we are made in God’s image, we will never understand our purpose until we find a relationship with Christ. A full knowledge of God only comes through a relationship with Christ. Jesus is everything God wants us to know about His attributes. He is the image of God. He is the picture, the explanation of God. If you want to know what God is like, look to Jesus! You are not an accident. You and I find our purpose in Jesus, not in this created world. He made us in His image and ultimately what satisfies our soul! He holds it all together!

Are you on mission to make disciples here and around the world? We are called by God to engage with others to point them to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Who in your life needs Christ? Who is God calling you to invite to church, to share your faith with?
