Jesus went about teaching and doing good.

Jesus was despised and rejected, not because of the good things he did, but because of who he was. They rejected his identity, not his good deeds.

This continued in the decades after the death of Christ.

The proconsul instructed him to “Swear by the genius of Caesar“ and "Revile Christ.” Polycarp replied:

But in time people changed their opinion and began to affirm Jesus, but it wasn’t the Jesus of history, the Jesus testified about by the apostles.
