Sermon Title: A SAVIOR Too Good To Be Secret
Speaker: Pastor Donnie Hinshaw
Date: April 13, 2025
Series: WK10 – Too Good To Be Secret

Description:
Palm Sunday is more than a parade of palm branches—it’s a declaration of a Savior who refuses to be hidden. In this message, Pastor Donnie unpacks the triumphal entry of Jesus in John 12 and reminds us that Jesus didn’t come for fame, but for the cross. His glory was found not in comfort, but in sacrifice.
As we follow Jesus, we’re called to lift His name high, die to ourselves, and carry His love to the one more person God is placing in our path. The world is still crying out, “Hosanna—Lord, save us!” May our lives echo that cry and point people to the One who saves.

Scripture: John 12:12–26
Big Idea: Jesus is too good to be secret. He lived, died, and rose again—for everyone.

12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
John 12:12–13 (ESV)

TAKE HOME POINT 1
Faith in Jesus does not always lead us to worldly SUCCESS,
but it always leads us spiritually to the CROSS.

25 Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord.
Psalm 118:25–26 (ESV)

8 Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”
Matthew 21:8–11 (ESV)

12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” 14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, 15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!”
John 12:12–15 (ESV)

9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Zechariah 9:9 (ESV)

TAKE HOME POINT 2
Our primary purpose in life is to do one thing.
Lift the name of Jesus and point people to Him.

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.
John 12:16 (ESV)

9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
Revelation 7:9 (ESV)

TAKE HOME POINT 3
We are a community who choose to live generously inside and out to bring the love of God to heart of your ONE MORE.

17 The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. 18 The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.

Wherever the spirit of religion is, there is control.

21 So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. 23 And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
John 12:21–23 (ESV)

Our lives are redeemable by the cross so others will be redeemed by the cross.

John 12:24 (ESV)

25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
John 12:25–26 (ESV)
