WORD POWER: Hosanna (hoshiah)- save us now!
INTRO: 3 Lessons from a Procession.
1. Scripture is more reliable than Opinion.
All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:5 “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ Vs 4-5
2. Jesus is more appealing than Religion.
And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!” Vs 8-9
3. Following Him is more important than just Believing in Him.
And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?” 11 So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee. Vs 10-11
Analysis/Application: What Should Be our Attitude Towards Resources?
1. An Attitude of Humility.
“Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. Vs 2
“Tell the daughter of Zion,‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. Vs 5
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Colossians 3:12-13
2. An Attitude of Availability.
And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of
them,’ and immediately he will send them. Vs 3
3. An Attitude of divine Utility!
They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and
set Him on them. Vs 7
Now it came to pass, when Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle, that he anointed it and consecrated it and all its furnishings, and the altar and all its utensils; so he anointed them and consecrated them. 2 Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ houses, who were the leaders of the tribes [a]and over those who were numbered, made an offering. 3 And they brought their offering before the Lord, six covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders, and for each one an ox; and they presented them before the tabernacle. 4 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 5 “Accept these from them, that they may be used in doing the work of the tabernacle of meeting; and you shall give them to the Levites, to every man according to his service.” 6 So Moses took the carts and the oxen, and gave them to the Levites. Numbers 7:1-6
