Sermon Title: Light to Dark

The day started bright with a huge celebration! With crowds cheering as Jesus makes his way down into Jerusalem.

The people shouted: “...all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.
38 “Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the LORD! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!””

Then the Pharisees tried to silence the people:
39 But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!”

Jesus responded with a powerful truth to rebuke them:
40 He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”

The celebration of the moment quickly shifted.
From Joy to weeping over what was going to happen.

Then we see where Jesus and his disciples continued their journey into Jerusalem, and instead of the, “the King who comes in the name of the LORD!” heading to the palace, he heads to the temple.

The setting gets a little darker as Jesus starts to DRIVE OUT the people who were selling animals for sacrifices in the temple.

It was after that, where we see the hearts of man go dark. As Jesus taught in the temple the teachers of religious law, and other leaders “began planning on how to kill him.”

Lessons for today:
1. Jesus will be worshiped! Will he get yours?
2. Jesus let down the political minded
3. Jesus enraged the religious

Overarching truth: This world cannot satisfy

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
-John 14:6
