Manteno Interfaith Crosswalk
Friday, April 18 | 9am | The Manteno churches come together to host this annual event where a cross is carried through our community to different churches. As we walk to each stop, a portion of the Easter story is read and a song is sung. This year it starts at Community Presbyterian Church- 64 S. Walnut St. and ends at First Baptist Church, where a light luncheon of soup and bread will be served. Please note the earlier start time of 9am this year. For a complete list of stops or if you need to drive, please visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/people/Manteno-Interfaith-Commission/100083377389161/
Good Friday Tenebrae Service
Friday, April 18 | 7pm | Sanctuary | This is a time of remembrance and reflection upon our Lord’s death. We will start the service as one body with a time of singing and communion. Our kids will then be dismissed to the Children's Center and the adults and youth will transition to a Tenebrae service, a service of shadows.
Student Ministries E.A.Y. (Egg a Yard) Fundraiser
Saturday, April 19 | 5pm | Are your kids excited for the Easter Bunny to come? Would you LOVE for someone else to put eggs in your yard so you don't have to? Well then this fundraiser is for you! The teens will stuff the eggs and then hide them in your yard the night before Easter. So sign your own family up, gift it to another family, or enjoying pranking someone else you know. Inside the Outsider: King of the Outsiders
Luke 23:33-43
April 13, 2025
Luke 23:35
35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”
Luke 23:36-37
36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar 37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.”
Luke 23:38
38 There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Luke 23:39
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
Your “insider quotient” rises the more you feel you’re in a crowd like you.
Your “insider quotient” rises the more you feel you’re in a crowd like you.
Your “insider quotient” falls the more you feel you’re in a crowd unlike you.
When Jesus becomes unpopular do I still follow him?
If you only follow Jesus when He’s popular, you’ll abandon Him when He’s crucified.
Luke 23:39
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
Luke 23:40-41
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
Luke 23:42
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
