Church at the Shores

April 6th - Tetelestai: It's Not Over - Story of Lazarus
The Tetelestai series invites us to walk through the final moments leading up to the resurrection: Lazarus’ death, Palm Sunday, and Good Friday. In each scene, we discover that what looked like the end was actually the beginning. In a world quick to move on, this series helps us slow down, sit in the tension, and see that Jesus was never rushed, never absent, and never finished until the grave was empty.

WHAT IS JESUS DOING...
1.) Jesus delays, not to punish, but to prepare.

WHAT CAN YOU DO IN THE WAITING?
1.) Pay attention to what God is forming in you.
Ask: What is God shaping in me during this season?
2.) Stay close to Jesus, even when nothing makes sense.

PRAYER TO PRAY THIS WEEK
Thank You that You are never late.
You wait on purpose.
You weep with compassion.
And You speak with power.Thank You that You still call our names.Even when we feel stuck, even when we’ve buried hope, you’re not finished.
Help us to hear Your voice and follow You out of the grave, into new life, into freedom, into resurrection.
Amen.

GOING DEEPER: DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Why do you think Jesus waited two more days after hearing about Lazarus? What does that tell us about His timing?
How does Jesus’ weeping in verse 35 shape your view of God’s character? What does it say about His heart for us in pain?
Is there an area in your life where it feels like God is delaying? How are you learning to trust Him in the waiting?
Who has shown up for you in a hard moment just by being present? How did that impact you—and how might you do that for someone else?
If Jesus is still calling names today, what might He be calling you out of—and what might He be calling you into?
PRACTICE TO EXPERIENCE
If you are a group leader, this is a unique opportunity to lead your small group through the practice of communion as you prepare for Easter.
Read Together: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.
Guide Your Group Using these Words:
We remember Jesus—His body, broken for us.His blood, poured out for our forgiveness. His love, stronger than death.
We come a table of grace. A table for the hungry, the weary, the forgiven.
TAKE THE BREAD
Take the bread in your hands.
This is the body of Christ, broken for you.
Take and eat.
TAKE THE CUP
Now take the cup.
This is the blood of Christ, shed for you.
Take and drink.
Let the bread remind you: His body was given so yours could be made whole.Let the cup remind you: His blood covers it all.Let this moment remind you: He’s not finished. Resurrection is coming.

E.S.P.N. for the Group Leader to Remember:
Encouragement
Leadership is 51% encouragement. Don’t underestimate the power of a kind word or a thoughtful affirmation. Look for opportunities to call out the good in each person and remind them of God’s work in their life. Encouragement builds trust and fosters connection in your group.
Scripture
Make space to read Scripture out loud together. God’s Word is living and active, and hearing it read aloud can open hearts and minds to His truth in a powerful way. Even a short passage can spark meaningful conversation and reflection.
Prayer
Create intentional moments for your group to pray together. Whether it’s a simple prayer for the week or interceding for specific needs, prayer connects us to Jesus—and Jesus transforms lives.
Next Step
Always point your group toward one clear, actionable next step before you end. It could be as simple as spending five minutes in stillness this week, reading a specific Scripture, or reaching out to someone in love. A clear next step helps people take what they’ve learned and put it into practice.
