Jehovah Shalom - The Lord our Peace
God is Jehovah-Shalom, meaning, “The Lord our Peace”. In a world that promises peace only when circumstances are peaceful, Jesus promises his peace that surpasses our ability to understand. His sacrifice has made atonement and peace with our perfect God and His grace is the presence of an active power to sustain us in the midst of the troubles and distress we face. The Prince of Peace, Jesus - promises us we can live with peace.

Jehovah-Shalom (The Lord Our Peace)
The word shalom is one of the most significant words in the OT. It is used hundreds of times and translated variously, but each translation and shade of meaning harmonizes with the doctrine of atonement as the basis of peace with God.
170 times the word shalom is translated as PEACE.
It carries with it the idea of wholeness, completeness, or well-being.
We see shalom (peace) alluded to often in OT, the place we see this attributed to God as Jehovah Shalom first occurs in the book of Judges chapter 6

Judges 6 (select verses)
11 The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. 12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
14 The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he exclaimed, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!”
23 But the Lord said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” 24 So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Gideon found God to truly be Jehovah Shalom—the “Lord Who Is Our Peace.”
Even when there was still worries and anxiousness surrounding him - and you can see it in as you read his story in Judges chapters 6, 7
He’s still battling worry
Q) — anyone ever battle worry, anxiousness in life?
"Worry is an indication that we think God cannot look after us."
—Oswald Chambers
"Worry shifts the focus of attention from the all sufficient power of Christ to our human insufficiency and insecurity." -June Hunt (author and ministry leader)

Jesus said to his disciple (then and now)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
-John 14:27
Not as the world does...
How does He give it, then? He gives it from within.
He gives it as you feed upon His affection and His power and His presence.
As you reckon His promises to be true and you trust in them, IN HIM.
As you turn the distress over to Him and leave it in His hands, then you will have peace.
Seek Him to be the heavy lifter of your life!

Praise Jehovah Shalom - God our peace...
When you are afraid or distressed, put your trust in God, Jehovah Shalom.
He is the answer to your anxious thoughts, your worry, your distress and He wants to keep you in perfect peace because He is the Prince of Peace; and because He is the Prince of peace, He has the authority and the power to bring you peace.
Memorize Isaiah 26:3-4
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you. Trust in the LORD forever, because the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock!
*if it's big enough to worry about - it's big enough to pray about.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7
