Sermon Title: The Good, Bad and the ___
Good
vs. 44, the whole city turned out for their preaching.
vs. 48, many became believers.
vs. 49, the message spread throughout the region
vs. 52, believers were filled with joy & the Holy Spirit.

Bad
45 But when some of the Jews saw the crowds, they were jealous; so they slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said.
50 Then the Jews stirred up the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town.
2 Some of the Jews, however, spurned God’s message and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against Paul and Barnabas.
4 But the people of the town were divided in their opinion about them. Some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.
5 Then a mob of Gentiles and Jews, along with their leaders, decided to attack and stone them.
6 When the apostles learned of it, they fled..
The ugly side of life is the ardest to deal with. It’s when life feels unfair, painful, or really tough.

When life does get ugly, what do we do?
The Calling
46 Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly ...
51 So they shook the dust from their feet as a sign of rejection and went to
the town of Iconium.
3 But the apostles stayed there a long time, preaching boldly... And the
Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do
miraculous signs and wonders.

Luke 9:23, “Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 25 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?
Good, bad or otherwise, we pick up our cross daily & follow Him.
That’s why the Holy Spirit fell in Acts 2, to empower God’s people to do just this!
Jesus knew it was going to be hard, and wanted to empower his people to do it!
