Matthew 6:25-34 ESV
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
● There is something more in life to be desired than even these necessities.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
● There is something more in life to be desired than even these necessities.
26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
● Our worries shouldn’t look like the Gentiles’ worries, because He who created us, knows us, and will provide for us.
● Our worries shouldn’t look like the Gentiles’ worries, because He who created us, knows us, and will provide for us.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
● The answer isn’t just passively “not worrying,” but rather actively looking to God and trusting Him for everything.

34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

How can we better trust in God today?
1)Understanding the value God places on you.
● Romans 5:6-8ESV
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

● Ephesians 3:16-17ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 , created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

2)Shifting from HEARING to LISTENING.
● John 14:15ESV
“If you love me, you will keep (OBEY) my commandments.”

3)Seeking Him and His Kingdom First.
● Matthew 22:37-40ESV
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Do Not Be Anxious.
Prayer Requests:
Group Discussion: What are you currently worried about in life?
Read Aloud: Matt. 6:25-34
1. V.26, 28 “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? … And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin…” Making ourselves busy tends to be a first instinct whenever stress and worry knock at the door. Why do you think that is? In what ways can this habit negatively affect our trust in God?
2. v.31-32 “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” How difficult of an idea is it for you to not worry about what you’re going to eat and what you’re going to wear? How can we begin to set ourselves apart in this area from people who don’t know God?
3. v.33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” What does it mean to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness? What are some ways you’ve seen God provide for his people in scripture? How have you seen God provide for his people during your lifetime, whether in your own life or someone else’s life that you’ve seen?
