Contentment as a Spiritual GPS: Contentment indicates whether we're growing in grace or falling in faith. Our source of contentment—whether in possessions or in Christ—reveals our spiritual direction.

Greed Defined: Greed (avarice) is a disordered attachment to possessions. The end result is that our possessions end up possessing us. It is a lack of contentment in God’s good gifts and therefore in God himself.

The Judas Warning: Like Judas, our discontent can lead us to betray Jesus by compromising our morals in pursuit of what we believe we deserve or need.

Forms of Discontent: Greed in the form of discontent manifests as excessive ambition (dissatisfaction with current status), need for control, pursuit of novelty (the new and shiny), and prodigality (inability to save).

Path to Contentment: Developing contentment requires acknowledging Christ as the giver of all good gifts, practicing gratitude, redefining "enough" biblically, creating a rule of life for consumption, and cultivating a faith of abundance rather than scarcity.
