“They tried to take him way” (verse 21): Went out to seize him, to arrest him by force.
1. Two things that our Christian walk will make us CONFRONT:
A. Only those who TRUST God can see Jesus as a man SENT form God.
B. Only those who trust God can do the RIGHT thing and be ok with “WRONG” outcome.
2. How you respond to someone’s SUCCESS says what you really think about them.
3. When the religious leaders couldn’t deny the FRUIT of Christ’s work they began to twist His CHARACTER.
4. The greatest threat to our own success is rarely a problem from the OUTSIDE but DIVISION from within.
A. The key to our success is not greater EFFORT but greater SURRENDER.
B. Do we live you as a VICTIM in the house of a strong man or as one who Christ has set FREE?
Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit: It is the ongoing, continued rejection of the witness of the Holy Spirit to the divinity, work, and savior role of Jesus Christ.
5. At the root of blasphemy is the human heart that chooses to call light DARKNESS and darkness LIGHT.
3 Opinions of Jesus:
1. He was a LUNATIC - “Out of His mind”
2. He was a DEMONIC liar - “By the Prince of demons he casts out the demons.”
3. He is GOD - “Only someone even stronger…”
1. He was a LUNATIC - “Out of His mind”
2. He was a DEMONIC liar - “By the Prince of demons he casts out the demons.”
3. He is GOD - “Only someone even stronger…”
6. If Jesus is God, the most SANE response is to give Him total control of your LIFE.
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” -C.S. Lewis
Weekly Review Read through Mark 3:20-30 while thinking about how Jesus has proven His faithfulness, goodness, and mercy in your life. What is one area you can trust Him with more?
What’s Next? Our next Re-Charge lesson will be from Mark 3:31-35 entitled: God's Forever Family. Feel free to read and study the text and consider this question before attending: When it comes to serving the Lord and seeking Him, do you have family members who sometimes misunderstand what you're endeavoring to do? If so, how do you try to navigate this with them?
