Let There Be Light
The amazing power of God’s creation is on full display in Genesis 1-3. We get “front-row” seats!. This Sunday, we’ll observe the first few days of creation starting with, Light. Do you know why God calls His people to walk in light? What does it mean? Remember His commands are always tied to His character. Shalom!

God loves us, called us to Himself and works in our life 24/7!
“His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches over me”.

God commands the light to shine and separates the light from the darkness.
The First step from chaos to order is to bring light. That’s also how God works in our life.

We aren’t told who or what that light was or is.
It probably came from God Himself, who is Light!

God clothes Himself with light: Psalm 104: Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, 2 covering yourself with light as with a garment
Rev 22:5 And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.
The Light of the world provides eternal life to all who believe in Him. Those who do not believe in Him will be doomed to “outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 8:12).
In scripture, light is associated with:
a) Jesus Christ, the Word of God, God’s people, and God’s blessing
Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. 19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.

Darkness is associated with:
a) Satan, death, spiritual ignorance and divine judgements (Matthew 8:12)
b) That explains why God separated the light from the darkness

The principle of distinction. God is a God of distinction
(1) Light from dark
(2) Waters above from waters below
(3) Land from waters
Because He is holy, distinct, set-apart, He calls His people to be holy.
To be set-apart from the world.
In the world, not of the world.

Self-Pleasure and happiness are no longer our goal in life, as it once was, but rather the worship of God.
The first step from chaos to order in my life is to bring the light of God’s word into my situation.

Evening and morning. 1 day.
Yom should be interpreted in Genesis 1:5–2:2 by comparing that context to the word’s usage elsewhere in Scripture.
The Hebrew word yom is used 2,301 times in the Old Testament. Outside of Genesis 1, yom plus a number (used 410 times) almost always indicates a 24-hour period.

“The waters above the firmament thus probably constituted a vast blanket of water vapor above the troposphere and possibly above the stratosphere as well, in the high termprature region now known as the ionosphere and extending far into space”. Dr. Henry Morris
More from Dr. Morris...
1) It would serve as a global greenhouse, maintaining an essentially uniform, pleasant temperature all over the world.
2) Without great temperature variations, there would be no significant winds, and the water-rain cycle could not form.
a) There would be no rain, as we know it today.
3) There would be lush, tropical-like vegetation all over the world, fed not by rain, but by a rich evaporation and condensation cycle, resulting in heavy dew or ground-fog.
4) The vapor blanket would filter out ultraviolet radiation, cosmic rays, and other destructive energies bombarding the planet. Human and animal lifespans would be greatly increased.
5) A vapor blanket would provide the necessary reservoir for a potential worldwide flood.

God’s creation is still good!
