Welcome to GracePoint Church! Our purpose is to connect real people to the real God, and we believe studying the Bible is one of the best ways to do that. This spring, we are studying through the early chapters of Romans.This next sermon focuses on the first part of chapter 3 where Paul answers four objections about God's character from a hypothetical opponent of the Gospel. The argument is dense, but the news is good: Yes, we can believe in the Gospel because we can trust in the character of God! We hope the Lord speaks to you through His Word as you listen!

Main Lesson: We can Believe the Gospel because we can Trust God’s Character
Four Challenges to God’s character that an opponent of the Gospel Might Raise:
Challenge #1 = The Gospel undermines God’s Goodness
Q: “What good is Judaism if it doesn’t spare us God’s wrath?”
A: Judaism gave us God’s Word
Take-Away: Rest in the Goodness of God’s Word
Challenge #2 = The Gospel undermines God’s Faithfulness
Q: “If God can reject His covenant people, doesn’t that make Him unfaithful to His own covenant promises?”
A: God’s judgement proves His faithfulness to His covenant promises
Take Away: Believe God’s Promises
Challenge #3 = The Gospel undermines God’s Justice
Q: “If our sin displays God’s righteousness, isn’t He unjust to punish us for it?”
A: A Just God must judge what is evil
Take Away: Trust God’s Judgments
Challenge #4 = The Gospel undermines God’s Holiness
Q: “If our sin displays God’s glory, then shouldn’t He want us to sin even more?”
A: That’s blasphemy!
Take Away: Obey God’s Commands
