STUDY NOTES:

Learning and Implementing God's Structure for Families

God's structure provides for our deepest needs and leads us to become the families He desires. Submission, often misunderstood, is a positive character trait that even God displays in His nature. It supports authority, aligning with God's design.

Chaos and Rebellion

Chaos is never from God, while rebellion is encouraged by the Devil. Rebellious individuals struggle to maintain order and respect within their homes, diminishing credibility and authority over their children.

Mutual Submission and Service

Ephesians 5:21
"Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."

We must follow Jesus' example, valuing others above ourselves and adopting humility.

Philippians 2:3-8
Christ, though God, took on a servant's nature and humbled Himself to the point of death. Our family life should reflect this humility and service.

Teaching for Families

Ephesians 5 and Colossians 3
The Christian transformation involves a shift from self-centered stories to living by God’s narrative, focusing on His will rather than our desires.

Roles within Christian Families

Wives: Serve by respecting their husbands' authority, as taught in Ephesians 5:22-24 and Colossians 3:18. The scriptural order reflects the divine order, not inequality.

Husbands: Follow Christ's example of love and sacrifice as outlined in Ephesians 5:25-33 and Colossians 3:19. Love and respect are reciprocal, enriching the marital relationship.

Children: Accept their parents' authority, as directed in Ephesians 6:1 and Colossians 3:20. Obedience pleases the Lord and fosters a harmonious family life.

Adult Children: Continue honoring their parents, promising long life and prosperity as promised in Ephesians 6:2-3, reflecting the commands of Exodus 20:12 and Deuteronomy 5:16.
