Christian-ish: having a half-hearted faith; wearing the label of Christianity without truly following Jesus
Revelation 3:15-17, 19-20 NIV
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. … 19Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
emeo: to vomit, to throw up, to spew out forcefully
Revelation 3:17 NIV
“You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.”
Revelation 3:17 NIV
“… you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.”
5 Signs You Might Be Lukewarm
-You crave acceptance from people more than acceptance from God.
-You rationalize sin.
-You rarely share your faith in Christ.
-You only turn to God when you need something.
-You’re not much different from the world.
1 John 2:15 NIV
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
Revelation 3:19 NLT
“I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.”
Do something every day that requires faith.
Revelation 3:20 NLT
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
