INTRO: The Person of the Holy Spirit
- He is God thus Eternal.
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Cor 3:17
- He is our Advocate.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. John 14:15-16
He Glorifies the Father.
He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.John 16:14
He gives us new Life.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11
He is Received by Faith.
This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Galatians 3:2
ANALYSIS/APPLICATION: GROWing our Walk in the Spirit
1. Invite Him along your journey.
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Vs 16-17
2. Be Sensitive to His Alerts on your journey
and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Vs 16-17
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Vs 19-21
3. Connect to His Power for your journey.
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law… Vs 18
“The power of sin is the law,” Paul declares; “but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”1 Cor 15:56
Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”Luke 24:49
