A Church Set Apart
Main Idea: In this message we are going to explore rules 4, 5 and 6 from John Owens book “The duties of Christian fellowship”. Preserving unity, being set apart from the world and participating in fellowship together to edify and build of the Body of Christ. With a focus on how these three rules are so essential to each other.

1. Regardless of what we are set apart from or set apart for we are set apart TOGETHER.
2. Belonging and PURPOSE are vital to preserve unity.
3. Putting away UNREASONABLE EXPECTATIONS of perfection in others preserves unity.
4. A Church that strives together with BIBLICAL PURPOSE preserves unity.
5. We need to be INSULATED not isolated from culture.
Three questions to ask yourself about your relationships.
1) Who’s the one being influenced?
2) Do you find yourself compromising Christian principles to avoid conflict and keep the friendship?
3) Do you sometimes go along to get along?

6. Close worldly relationships will HINDER our Christian growth.
7. It’s impossible to be DEVOTED to people we don’t know.

2. Over the centuries Christians have been either completely separate from or hard to tell apart from the rest of society. There is sometimes a fine line between insolated and insulated, discuss your thoughts on how a Christian may best navigate through society today.
3. Jesus gave us wonderful example of discipleship with the 12 Apostles. Describe an example from your life where someone was committed to your growth and poured into you, what impact did it make in your walk?
