Text
Mothers bring their babies to be “touched” by Jesus (v.15a)
The mothers valued their babies’ lives.
Application
Are you bringing your children to Jesus?
At home everyday – if you are a Christian you belong to Jesus and are
indwelled by the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:9, Jn 16:13-15)
At Friendship on special days – the church is the body of Christ
(Mt 18:15-20, Rom 12, 1 Cor 10, 12, Eph 1:22-23, 4:15 5:23, Col 1:24,
Heb13:3)
Text
Disciples reflect the culture’s attitudes toward children and rebuke the mothers. (v15b)
The culture did not value children
Jesus perfectly embodies God’s attitude toward children and rebukes the disciples. (v16)
Children are to be welcomed
The kingdom of God is for them
Jesus uses the event to reinforce His teaching about entrance into His kingdom (v.17)
Entrance into God’s kingdom is received not earned.
We are to imitate a child’s dependence.
Response
Have you come to Jesus to receive his grace?
Are you committed to being part of His body, the church?
Are you bringing others to Jesus?
