For the Love of the Church
Join us at Sugar Hill Church this Sunday as Pastor Chuck kicks off our new series with For the Love of the Church, a powerful message on Jesus’ design for the local church and the beauty of Communion. The church is more than a building—it’s a family, a place of unity, spiritual nourishment, and hope. When we come to the Lord’s Table, we’re reminded that we belong to something greater than ourselves. Let’s gather together, break bread, and celebrate the love and grace that unites us in Christ!

When we take Communion, we’re not just remembering a past event but actively participating in the life Jesus designed for us.

2 | The Local Church Is a Place of Unity
- But, Communion reminds us that in Christ, we are ONE.
- "The more genuine and deeper our community becomes, the more everything else between us recedes; the more clearly and purely Jesus Christ and His work will become the one and only thing that is vital between us.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
- Communion serves as a divine reset button, reminding us that our unity in Christ holds greater significance than any differences we may have.

3 | The Local Church Is a Place of Spiritual Nourishment
Jesus never intended that we would be either a museum, dead to the excitement of the risen Christ, or a concert, where we were to endure hero worship of superstar preachers and musicians.
- “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” - Corrie Ten Boom
- Communion is not merely a ritual; it’s a divine invitation to surrender, trust, and find peace in the One who holds our lives in His hands.

4 | The Local Church Is a Place of Hope and Expectation
- We proclaim that He is not done, that His kingdom is coming, and that one day, we will sit at the great banquet table - the Grown Up Table with Him in Heaven.
- “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” - C.S. Lewis
- Communion anchors us in that expectation, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.
- When we break the bread and drink from the cup, we are reminded that despite our differences, we belong to the same body and are saved by the same grace.
- May we remember that we are not just individuals in a room—we are the body of Christ, united by His sacrifice, and called to live in love and service to one another.
