God, who are You as revealed in Your Word?


Exodus 15:22, Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water.


Exodus 15:23, When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah.


Exodus 15:24, And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”


Exodus 15:25, And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.


Psalm 34:6, This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.


Exodus 15:25,26, There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them, 26 saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”

1. Any health we have comes from God.


Exodus 15:27, Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the water.


Psalm 103:3,4, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases…


2. God can use physical health to get our attention.


Hebrews 12:11, For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

3. God can use physical difficulty and healing to point others to Himself.


II Corinthians 1:3,4, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.


II Corinthians 12:9, But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

4. God has provided ultimate healing through Christ.

And Jesus took away the only kind of suffering that can really destroy you: that is being cast away from God. He took that so that now all suffering that comes into your life will only make you great. A lump of coal under pressure becomes a diamond. And the suffering of a person in Christ only turns you into somebody gorgeous.” - Tim Keller


I Peter 2:24, He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.


James 5:16, Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
