The church is the people of God, filled with the Spirit of God, engaging in the mission of God.
1. Mission Proof - Jesus' Resurrection
2. Mission Power - The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity.
hey
Every follower of Jesus has been given the Holy Spirit and Gifts (Eph. 1:13-14).

The Holy Spirit empowers the church for the glory of God and the spread of the gospel.
3. Mission Purpose - Be Witnesses
A witness is somebody who tells what they have seen and heard.
hey
We have the privilege of being witnesses of the good news.

Dig Deeper:
1. What do you know about the book of Acts in the Bible? At what point in history do the events take place?
2. What is our mission at The Bridge Church? Why is it unfinished?
3. Read Acts 1:1-2. Who is the author? Who is the writer? What is the difference? Why is the writer providing a detailed account to Theophilus?
4. What does, “I wrote the first narrative,” mean? How is the first narrative connected to Acts? Why is that significant?
5. The church is the people of God, filled with the Spirit of God, engaging in the mission of God. Describe how you’ve experienced this firsthand.
6. Read Acts 1:3. What is the foundation of the faith of Christ-followers? What are some of the “convincing proofs” that you know about.
7. Why do some view the Bible as outdated, archaic, and irrelevant? What would be your response to those who view it that way?
8. Read 1 Corinthians 15:6. Imagine being one of the 500 eyewitnesses seeing Jesus alive from the dead. What reactions do you think might have taken place?
9. Read 1 Corinthians 15:14. Why is there no hope for eternal life without Jesus’s resurrection?
10. Read Acts 1:4. What did Jesus ask them to do? Would this be your first response if you saw Jesus raised from the dead? Why is waiting sometimes difficult for people? Why is it easy for Jesus?
11. Read Act 1:5-7. What were they hoping would happen? Why were they hoping it would happen? What was Jesus’s response? Is this any different from how some people respond now? Why or why not?
12. Read Acts 1:8. Who is the Holy Spirit? Discuss how we worship ONE God in three distinct persons.
13. Read John 14:16-17. What do we learn about the Holy Spirit here? Provide examples in your own life where you have experienced what is spoken in this passage.
14. Read John 15:26. How does the Holy Spirit bear witness to Christ? How do we play a part in this process?
15. Read Acts 1:8 again. What declarative statement does Jesus use here? What is a witness?
16. Describe the last time you have told someone else what you have seen and heard about Jesus Christ. What was the outcome?
17. What is Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth to us? How have you been participating in sharing about the gospel in each of these areas?
18. Read Act 1:9-11. What is the most awesome part about this text? Why? What is your response to that?

Live It Out:

We have the privilege of being witnesses of the good news of Jesus Christ! We carry on the mission today by being a part of what God is doing in the next chapter of The Bridge Church. In what way do you want to participate in our unfinished mission? Spend time with God and ask Him for guidance as you consider how to:

1. Have a relationship with Jesus. The Holy Spirit might be drawing you to come to faith in Jesus. If you haven’t placed your faith in Jesus Christ, today can be your day of salvation. Respond by faith in Christ by praying to God and acknowledging that you cannot save yourself. Repent of your sin and believe in Jesus.
2. Share your faith. If you would like to know more about how to share your faith with others, sign up for the Sharing Your Faith class beginning this Tuesday, February 11, at 6:30PM. This is a core class at The Bridge Church where you can learn how to share your story and God’s story with people in your life. 3. GO! Whether in Judea, Samaria, or the ends of the earth, God has called us to go and be His witnesses. Where are you going in 2025? Consider going on a short-term mission trip this year with The Bridge Church. Find out more here: https://www.thebridgevenice.com/missiontrips
