SHEPHERDS AND SHEEP
John 10.14-16

healthy shepherds = healthy flock = unstoppable mission.

John 10.14-16 (ESV) I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
Psalm 100.3 (ESV) Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Matthew 9.36 (ESV) When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Sheep are weak, dirty, and clueless.

1. Follow Your Shepherds (Heb. 13.17)

Hebrews 13.17 (ESV) Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account.

2. Copy Their Homework (1 Cor. 11.1)

1 Corinthians 11.1 (ESV) Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

3. Support them, don’t slam them (1 Tim 5.19-20)

Hebrews 13.17 (MSG) Contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?

1 Timothy 5.17 (ESV) Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.
