Sunday, February 2, 2025 - Message #1 by Pastor Joe Rock; "Call To Me" Stewardship Series
Locations & Times
1000 S Main St, Alta, IA 51002, USA
Sunday 8:30 AM
Sunday 10:00 AM
1. Am I Investing in Temporary or Eternal Matters? (v 19-21)
2. Am I Gazing at Christ or This World? (v 22-23)
3. Am I Pledging Allegiance to My Money or My God? (v 24)
Sermon Discussion
Applying God’s Word through Journey Groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:
Opener
1. As we pray about giving to The Olive Branch, what excites you about that ministry? What inclines your heart to want to be invested in it?
Recap
2. Read Matthew 6:19-24. What stood out to you most from the sermon? Was there a particular verse or point that resonated with you?
3. Why do you think material things have such a strong pull on our hearts?
4. What are some things in your daily life that distract you from keeping your eyes on Jesus? How can you “fix your gaze” on Him?
5. What could be some warning signs that money or material possessions are taking too much control over our hearts?
Digging Deeper—Read 1 Timothy 6:17-19.
6. How does this passage help us understand what Jesus means when He says to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven”?
7. What do you think it might look like for you to be “rich in good works”?
8. How does generosity help us shift our hope away from money and toward God?
Application
9. How can trusting God as your provider free you from the pressures of financial worry and greed?
10. Close by praying Psalm 139:23-24 as a group. Ask God to reveal areas where your heart is clinging to temporary instead of eternal things.
