1. The regular gathering together in PERSON as the body of Christ
A. When we are alone, we are most tempted to take the EASY course rather than the RIGHT one.
“Christ works on us in all sorts of ways. But above all, He works on us through each other.” C.S. Lewis
2. A believer should be BOUND to a specific, single body of believers.
A. The substance of who you are is not best expressed in your preferences but in your COMMITMENTS.
3. Consent and submission to the ORDINANCES of Christ: Water Baptism & The Lord’s Supper
A. Baptism is the DECLARATION that we have been fully accepted by God but are being changed by the Holy Spirit within us.
B. Communion reminds us of the COMMITMENT
4. God’s Word as the believer’s ULTIMATE authority.
A. It is not what we choose that makes things true. We should choose something because they have PROVEN to be true.
John 8:28-29, John 14:10-11, Matthew 8:9

1. From the teaching, what things have changed since the book “Duties of Christian Fellowship” was written in 1647?
2. How important is it to you personally that you are committed to a specific body of believers?
3. In your own words, what does it mean to make biblical principles the sole focus of how you live?
Next Step:
• What is one way you place a greater emphasis on your contribution to your local church body?
