Pentheraphobia – mother-in-law

People are afraid of a lot of stuff and fear is a universal problem. God knew this and he speaks about it throughout the Bible. The emotion of fear is mentioned hundreds of times in the bible.

We all struggle with some key types of fear like:

Fear of Rejection
Fear of Loss
Fear of Failure
Fears that hold us back and take control.

Jesus invites his followers to not be afraid.

"Don’t be afraid," he said. "Take courage! I am here!"
Mark 6:50 (NLT)

Jesus spent all this time with the disciples teaching and encouraging them not to be afraid but in his time of greatest need they ran away from him.

They were paralyzed by fear.

That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. John 20:19 (NLT)

Symptoms of Fear:

WORRY And CONTROL
Worry is filled with the “What ifs.”
Control is how we try to contain it.

Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,”
John 20:19 (NLT)

Jesus MEETS Them In Their FEAR.

Jesus MEETS You In Your FEAR.

As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! John 20:20 (NLT)

Jesus does not promise you will not get hurt or everything will work out the way you want.

Jesus Does Promise Don’t Be Afraid Take Courage I Am Here.

Never Allow The Presence Of Fear To Cause You To Doubt The Presence Of God.

Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” John 20:21 (NLT)

We need to unlock the door and step out realizing Jesus is with us.

How to Unlock the Door of Fear?

Fill Your Life With LOVE.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. John 4:18 (NIV)

RECEIVE God’s love.

OFFER God’s love to others.

Face Down Fear With FACTS.

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32 (NLT)

Answer Fear’s Questions With TRUTH:

Does the God promise to meet all my NEEDS?
Philippians 4:19

Does God promise to be with me at all TIMES?
Hebrews 13:5,6; Deuteronomy 31:6

Is anything too HARD for God?
Jeremiah 32:27

Could this situation build my CHARACTER?
Romans 8:28,29

What I Fear The Most Is Usually Where I’m Trusting God The Least.

COMMIT Your Fears TO PRAYER.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

If It’s Big Enough To Worry About It Is Big Enough To Pray About.

Remember…. Don’t be Afraid! Take Courage! I am Here!
