Sermon Discussion
Applying God’s Word through Journey Groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:

Opener
1. What brought you to northwest Iowa? What keeps you around?

Recap
2. Read Jeremiah 29:1-14. What stood out to you most from the sermon? Was there a particular verse or point that resonated with you?

3. Do you see yourself as a “resident alien” where God has placed you? How do you balance being part of your community while maintaining a distinct Christian identity?

4. In what ways are you actively contributing to the welfare of your community? How might God be calling you to do more?

5. How does focusing on your true eternal home influence how you live in your temporary earthly home?

Digging Deeper—Read Matthew 5:14-16.
6. What does it mean that we are a “city on a hill” or “the light of the world”?

7. How are you tempted to hide your light?

8. Are there ways that God is calling you to be visible as a follower of Jesus? Explain.

Application
9. How does the sermon’s call to "adorn the doctrine of God" (Titus 2:10) challenge the way we live as individuals and as a church?

10. Close together as a group by praying for the community where God has placed you, for those in need, and for opportunities to shine Christ’s light?
