Dig Deeper:
1. As we wrap up the Renewed series, what has been your biggest takeaway so far? Why?
2. It’s our last Sunday at SKY Academy? Discuss your thankfulness for not only our time at SKY Academy but also what you are most looking forward to in our new church home. Share at least one big moment you’ve encountered at The Bridge Church while being at SKY Academy…or even before SKY Academy.
3. Have you ever received a “Read this first” manual with something you’ve purchased before? Did you read it first? Why or why not?
4. Read Romans 12:21. Is it easy to see darkness and evil in our world today? Why or why not? If so, provide examples.
5. Read Romans 8:37. What does it mean to be a conqueror? How are we conquerors?
6. What’s the difference between knowing good vs. evil and conquering evil by doing good?
7. Read Romans 12:14. Why do you think Paul talks about “blessing” people before he begins to speak about overcoming evil with good?
8. What does it mean to “bless” someone? How is it different than a “curse”?
9. Read Romans 12:15. Describe a time in your life when you’ve experienced rejoicing with someone who is rejoicing or weeping with someone who is weeping.
10. Read Romans 12:16. What does it mean to “associate with the humble”? What happens when someone does this?
11. Read Romans 12:17. When does this “careful thought” take place?
12. Read Romans 12:18. Is it easy to “live at peace with everyone”? How does “as far as it depends on you” play an important role in living in peace with others?
13. Read Romans 12:19. How does leaving “room for God’s wrath” play a part in our relationship with Him? What must we do to allow this to happen?
14. Read Romans 12:20. Describe a time when you have cared for someone who is considered “an enemy.” What was the outcome?
15. Read Romans 12:21. Ultimately, how can we not be conquered by the evil that seemingly surrounds us?
16. Read Colossians 1:19-23. Describe how you have experienced this in your own personal relationship with Jesus.
Live It Out:
Go the opposite way. Live differently. God has been doing something special in Venice, Englewood and the surrounding areas. As a church family, we are about to step into a whole new chapter in the life our church. We have more opportunities than ever to live Romans 12:14-21 out. There is darkness in the world today, but there is so much opportunity. Take the lead in choosing to go last by:
1. When you feel persecuted, will you choose to react in anger? Will you hold a grudge? Will you return evil for evil? Will you allow persecution to overwhelm and conquer you and just give up? Or will you choose the way of Christ? Will you choose to bless those who mistreat you?
2. When it feels like someone else is winning when it feels like you’re losing, will you give into jealousy. Will you let that divide you? Or will you choose to do good and recognize that faith is bigger than you and rejoice with those that are rejoicing?
3. When you feel numb to other’s pain because of your own, how will you respond? Will you consume yourself with yourself and be conquered by that darkness, or will you embrace the mantle of more than a conqueror and weep with those who weep?
