Fruit is the evidence/proof that you're planted in Christ
You can't bear fruit without roots. You can't have roots without being planted.
You want to be planted in the right place.
Being planted by a stream leads to flourishing.
The Righteous
The Withering
1. You bearing fruit, brings glory to God
2. God's desire is that you would bear much fruit
3. Bearing much fruit, shows that you are Jesus' disciples
You don't want to be a tree that looks alive but is not producing.
Are you fruitful or withering?
"In cursing the fig-tree, he shows "His justice on the sinners who bring forth not the expected fruits of grace." Since even though a person should only expect fruit from a tree in its season, God by contrast always has the right to expect from mankind the fruits of righteousness and piety."
When expectation is unmet, we must inspect the condition of our connection. - John McEvilly
Your fruit is a direct result of your connection.
Remain in His Word.
Remain in His presence.
Remain in community with other believers.
God's patience isn't permission to stay where you are; it's an opportunity to grow.
Your fate doesn't have to be - 'thrown into the fire and burned'
