“That God would give them the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.”

give them
Illumination is the idea that God opens a person’s eyes to know Him and His truth.

knowledge
not to some collection of facts that we can use to win some Bible trivia game, but rather a knowledge that should powerfully influence us and those around us.

revelation
the removal of ignorance by the revealing of truth.

the Spirit of wisdom
a skill or the practical application of knowledge.

In sum, Paul asks that the Holy Spirit would grow their knowledge of God and use it in order to remove any ignorance in their lives regarding the resources available to them through God.
