Manger Music // I Heard the Bells
We have 2 unique opportunities for you to worship with us this Christmas. The first is on Sunday, December 22 at 9 and 11 am. There will be full Children's and Student Ministries available. We'll continue in our "Manger Music" sermon series by looking at a Christmas song written out of a time of deep national and personal pain, yet the author of "I Heard the Bells" found hope on Christmas day. Then on Tuesday the 24th, we'll have our Christmas Eve services at 1 and 3 pm. They will be family services with the kids and students worshipping with us where we sing lots of favorite carols and even hear a brand new one written by some of Eastpointe's staff--but don't worry, we promise that Pastor Dustin won't be singing it!

When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn
The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."
