Men’s Timothy Team — Friday, January 3, 6:00 to 7:30 AM
What do we believe and why is it important? All men of Summit are encouraged to join the pastors and elders as we begin a new series at Timothy Team! Throughout 2025, on the first Friday of each month, we will explore the 10-point Statement of Faith of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Each session will include a brief video interview with faculty from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, helping to clarify the essential truths of Scripture and to address contemporary challenges to our faith. There is no book to purchase this year; just come enjoy the great breakfast, warm fellowship, and lively discussion. Questions? See Pastor Doug.

Women’s Bible Study — Tuesdays, 9:00 to 10:30 AM, starting January 14
Join April Corlew and Ali Quintanilla for a study of Jude: Contending for the Faith in Today’s Culture, by Jackie Hill Perry. In a world of unbelief, we are called to fight for the truth of the gospel, lovingly pointing others to Jesus. This brief New Testament letter challenges us to stand firm in our faith, confident that the Lord is with us and will keep us from falling. Books are $20; please sign up in the church office.

January 1, 1995
On New Year’s Day thirty years ago, seventy-two people gathered at the Roxy Theatre for the first public worship service of The Evangelical Free Church of Alta. Soon the name was changed to Summit Evangelical Free Church, and in April of 2002 the congregation moved into their new ministry facility at 1000 S. Main Street in Alta.

As the church’s outreach expanded, The Olive Branch opened in 2009, CrossRidge Evangelical Free Church of Holstein was planted in 2011,
and Summit Real Life Center of Storm Lake opened for multicultural ministry in 2019.

Today, some 850 people call Summit their church home. About one-third are from Alta or Aurelia, one-third from Storm Lake, and one-third from 21 surrounding communities.

Under the leadership of six pastors and multiple support staff, the church family gathers each Sunday in two locations for five services in four languages. Ministries for children, youth, and college students continue to thrive, and more than a hundred adults are involved in smaller groups to grow in God’s Word while connecting with friends.

Our disciple-making purpose has remained the same since 1995: “We are committed to lead people to salvation in Jesus Christ and encourage spiritual growth in all believers through sound Biblical teaching.” Next month, we look forward to celebrating 30 years of God’s faithfulness to Summit. Please participate as you are able!

“CALL TO ME and I will answer you” (Jeremiah 33:3)
Our 30th Anniversary Celebration will include 30 days of prayer for the people and ministries of Summit. A 30-Day Prayer Guide has been written by 30 different members of Summit. Please pick up a copy today, along your January ABIDE devotional!

Daily Scripture readings and Sunday morning sermons throughout January will be drawn from the prophet Jeremiah, who challenges us to seek the LORD with all of our hearts.

Church Family Photo Wall
Be sure to have your photo taken this month at our beautiful Christmas backdrop in the Atrium. We would appreciate it if you would post photographs on Facebook, and tag Summit Church. Or send photos directly to us at office@summitefc.com. We will print and display them next month on a “Church Family Photo Wall.” You may send a different photo of yourself or family if you prefer, but we do want to include YOU!

Roxy Reunion! Wednesday, January 8, 6:30 to 7:30 PM
For old times’ sake, we plan to have a Special Prayer Meeting at the original home of Summit Church—Roxy Theatre, 218 S. Main Street, Alta. Most of today’s congregation never experienced those days at the Roxy, so we would like everyone to come join us there for a special evening of songs, prayers, and testimonies. Bring the whole family!
