How do we have peace when the troubles, the trials and the sorrows come while walking with God?
When trials, sorrows, troubles come, we can ask questions.
Luke 1:34, “And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”
You know who else asked a lot of questions? King David
Here are some of the questions he asked:
“O Lord—how long?” (Psalm 6:3).
“What is man that You are mindful of him?” (Psalm 8:4).
“Why do You hide in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1).
“Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?” (Psalm 15:1).
David had some tough questions for God.
But don’t just ask questions, listen for THE Answer, look for the answers.
Mary’s direct question was answered directly.
It’s good to have questions, but it’s even better to search for God and His answers.
When troubles, trials, sorrows happen along the path, whether we get the answer to our questions right away, delayed, or never, we must TRUST God has a plan and is in control.
Mary’s response to the Angel’s message was this: 38 ... “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
John 16:33: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
vs. 45, Makarios: blessed
vs. 48, Makarizo: refers to a state of blessedness given to those who endure great trials and tribulations.
Peace is not a destination that we arrive at.
Peace comes to us on the journey, as we walk, in good times, in bad times, PEACE comes along for the ride.
