APPROVAL
When you agree with how someone lives their life.
ACCEPTANCE
When you receive someone as they are, regardless of if you agree or disagree with how they live their life.

We are FREE to live for God's approval without the fear of losing God's acceptance.
We have the FREEDOM to live for God's approval alone, but sometimes we choose to live for other people's approval.

The desire to be liked is a normal thing, but living for the approval of others alone has its consequence.
THE CONSEQUENCES of living for others' approval...
- It's tiring
- You have to work to keep it
- Dissatisfaction
- Their opinions of us control what decisions we make

What we really want is...
to be accepted.
to be accepted.
We are accepted by God...
from the moment we decide to turn away from our sin and believe in Jesus Christ. We are accepted FOREVER!

THE GOOD CONSEQUENCES of living for God's approval alone...
- He strengthens us
- He transforms our lives
- He helps us turn away from our old way of living
- Who God says we are doesn't change

Paul had history with the people of Galatia. The book of Galatians is a personal letter from Paul to the churches in Galatia.

Paul and Barnabas' travels
Paul heard that the churches in Galatia were listening to and believing in a false Gospel message.
He’s basically saying, “Jesus already saved you! You are free from the pressure of keeping the law to be accepted by God! What they are telling you is a lie!”
Paul chose to live for the approval of God alone
Paul cared more about God's opinion of him than keeping the churches good opinion of him.
Paul cared more about God's opinion of him than keeping the churches good opinion of him.
Our goal as followers of Christ should be to please God.
How to live for God's approval alone this week...
1. Ask yourself "What would Jesus want me to do?" when making decisions.
2. Memorize or set Ephesians 2:19 as your phone's wallpaper
