Matthew 7:13-29
Jesus draws a dividing line between Himself and any other foundation for life.
The parable has two kinds of people who represent all of humanity.
The wise person hears Jesus and does what Jesus says
The foolish person hears Jesus but does not respond to Him
What about religions = systems of meaning in a community of faith and a worldview of what is sacred.

Common Areas of Religion
Story
Ritual
Ethical
Doctrinal
Social

Three Questions reveal Differences:
-what are we worshipping
-what is our human problem
-what is our salvation
Christianity’s unique distinctions:
the eternal, omnipotent, holy, loving, triune, creator God
Jesus Christ: his atoning death and bodily resurrection
What about personal philosophies?
-some people think every belief is good and equal
-some people believe they don’t need any belief at all

Jesus refutes all such nonsense:
