Why begin before the beginning?
-Sets the stage for what’s to come
-God is above and before all things
-Every good thing comes from Him.

Word = Logos
-Greek/Roman (Reason) - order; nature; soul of the universe
-Jewish (Action) - Creation; Revelation; Salvation
-Christian (Gospel) - the Christ, the Son of the Living God

Before the beginning, the Word was…
-Uncreated - Eternally existed (There was never a time when the Son was not.)
-Personal - Distinct, yet in Relationship with the the Father & Spirit
-God - Fully God (*NOT simply “divine” or “a god”)
-Active - Within the Trinity and Creation

THE ADVENT GIFTS

1. Peace
Stability of the eternal, uncreated, “simple” God
Shalom = with God, others, self
Where am I battling discontentment?

2. Joy
Perfect, unbroken fellowship (sharing).
God was not bored.
Where am I searching for joy?

3. Love
Eternal relationships of love.
Displayed through creation.
How can I serve others / give life?

4. Hope

Where am I struggling to have hope?

THE ADVENT GIFT

The King, who has always existed, took on flesh, died, rose again, and reigns eternally above all things, giving peace, joy, love, and hope, until He returns one day to make all things right. There is none like Him!
