The Voice of a Father

December 8, 2024 After Malachi speaks, God brings a long silence before the coming of Jesus. A famine of the Word of God, for some 400 years. And while the public breaking of silence would be the voice of John the Baptist, the announcement of Christmas is rich with a handful of private voices preceding his; Great Voices of Good News, of which we have the privilege of hearing. Today we hear the voice of a father; Zachariah, the father of John. And out of his brokenness, he speaks the words of Good News. So we say with Jesus: “If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”
