Hope is trusting God for what is ahead because of who He is.
But here’s the thing about hope: it always shines brightest in the middle of the darkest moments.
Despair is the complete loss or absence of hope.
“Hope in the Mess”
1. The Dawn of Hope – HOPE REKINDLED
A stump is what’s left when something once strong and vibrant gets cut down.
Beneath the surface of what looks dead and forgotten, a stump can still grow a tree—because where there’s a root, there’s hope for new life.
Beneath the surface of the stump Isaiah is talking about, God was working!
And that’s the power of hope. It doesn’t grow where everything is perfect; it grows in the hidden places, the dark seasons, when everything looks lost.
Hope often begins where we least expect it. God brings life from what seems to be dead.
Here’s some more nuggets, write this down:
When you’re waiting, God is working.
When it feels like everything’s been cut down, God is still growing something beneath the surface.
When you’re waiting, God is working.
When it feels like everything’s been cut down, God is still growing something beneath the surface.
That’s what hope is—the act of clearing away what’s past to make room for new growth, reminding you that God isn’t finished yet.
God does His best work in the places that seem dead. Hope doesn’t come from what you can see—it comes from what He’s promised. And when God makes a promise, He always delivers.
2. Hope Has A Name
Isaiah shows us that the Messiah (Jesus) isn’t just coming to make things better— He’s coming to make things right.
Hope isn’t a vague idea or a distant dream—hope has a name, and His name is Jesus.
3. Hope Takes Root
The kind of hope Paul is talking about doesn’t come from what’s happening around you—it comes from the God who is working within you.
• It doesn’t matter how far you’ve fallen—this hope is for you.
• It doesn’t matter how broken your story feels—this hope is for you.
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve messed up—this hope is for you.
• It doesn’t matter how broken your story feels—this hope is for you.
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve messed up—this hope is for you.
