Bad Advice about Money
Look out for #1
Money can’t buy happiness
God only cares about your money.

Money is a Magnifier

1) God is generous.

Generosity is the heart of God,

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He GAVE...

Romans 8:32 - Since he did not spare even his own Son but GAVE him up for us all, won’t he also GIVE us everything else?


Matthew 7:11 - “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven GIVE good things to those who ask him!”

James 1:17 - Every good and perfect GIFT is from above.

2) God owns it all

Matthew 25:14-15 - “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

Owners have rights.
Managers have responsibilities.

Deuteronomy 10:14 - To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.


Deuteronomy 8:17-18 - You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.”


(18) But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.


Job 41:11 - Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.


Haggai 2:8 - ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty.


Psalm 50:10-12 - for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.


If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.

Every spending decision
is a spiritual decision.

Proverbs 1:19 (MSG) - When you grab all you can get, that's what happens: the more you get, the less you are.


Matthew 25:16-17, 21-23 - The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more.


(21) “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

(22) “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’


(23) “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’


Luke 16:10-13 - “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.


(11) So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?


(12) And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? (13) “No one can serve two masters.


Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

God uses money as:

Matthew 25:24-26 - “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.


(25) So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ 26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant!

So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?

Money testifies to a watching world
how you feel about God.

Hebrews 13:5 - Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,. “Never will I leave you;never will I forsake you.”

You call out to God for help and He helps - He’s a good Father that way. But don’t forget, He’s also a responsible Father and won’t let you get by with sloppy living. Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.
