In God We Trust - Part 3
Introduction:

This series explores stewardship, wisdom, faithfulness, and the heart's orientation toward God and wealth. This passage provides a deep look at how we handle resources, the importance of faithfulness, and the need for an evident devotion to God over money.
Steward- (oikonomos) a house distributor (that is, manager), or overseer, that is, an employee in that capacity.
Stewardship- (oikonomia) administration (of a household or estate); account or accounting, audit.
1. Keep Good Records.
Four Things you need to keep good records on:

· What I own ----- > Assets
· What I owe -----> Liabilities
· What I earn -----> Income
· Where it all goes -----> Spending
2. Plan Your Spending

This is the principle of BUDGETING.

Budgeting: A plan to manage resources wisely.
3. Habits for Successful Budgeting:

a. Assess your income and spending.
b. Create a budget aligned with your values and goals.
c. Avoid impulsive decisions.
5 keys for successful budgeting
1. All spending must be planned.
Financial freedom is not determined by your income.
2. Planning keeps you honest.
If you learn to manage well with what you have now, you'll be prepared to handle even more in the future.
3. Planning helps you prepare for the future.
Proverbs 22:3 TLB

A prudent man foresees the difficulties ahead and prepares for them; the simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.
a. Do nothing financial without a plan. Sit down.
b. Be sure you can finish, before you start.
4. Planning takes the emotion out of spending.
Holiday Spending: GMA Consumer Alert:

2024 Projection: $240.8 billion (an 8.4% increase from 2023)
Credit Card Balances (Q3 2024): $1.17 trillion (up 8% from 2023)
This verse addresses impulse buying — unplanned purchases driven by emotion: “I see it. I want it. Let’s go get it.”

Its unplanned.
* Impulse buying shows immaturity.
* This verse is God's financial IQ test—how do you score?
* Does money “burn a whole” in your pocket?

* How do you break the habit of impulse buying and overspending? How do you spell relief? BUDGET!
You start by figuring out:

a. Fixed expenses: Mortgage, rent, utilities, phone, car, tuition, etc.
b. Flexible expenses: Cell phone, cable, Internet, hair, nails, etc.
Add them up to see if you’re paying out more than you’re making. If you are, you must adjust and revise.
5. Ask God for wisdom.
Homework assignment:

1. Commit to creating or revising your budget.
2. Seek God’s guidance in aligning your financial habits with His will.
3. Trust that faithful stewardship leads to peace and provision.
