The Text in Context

"This chapter is more than just the account of a life-changing incident in the life of one man... It is a crucial turning point in the history of the nation Israel. The burning bush marks the beginning of God’s direct intervention into the affairs of history. It is the basis for the call of Moses to return to Egypt as Israel’s deliverer. It is the beginning of..." To read more, click link.

Growth Group / Personal Reflection Questions

1. Have you ever felt God calling you to something in the past? Did you faithfully respond to that call? How did it go? What did you learn through that experience?

2. In this season of your life, is God calling you to something new? If so, what is it? What do you fear about the call? What excites you about it? How can others pray and/or support you?

Reflection on weekend's scripture-

3. In Exodus 3:1-3, Moses could have ignored the strange sight, but he chose to engage. What can we learn from Moses' choice to "turn aside" and investigate? What can we learn from about the importance of curiosity, openness, and willingness to engage with moments that might seem strange or challenging in our own lives?

4. How does Exodus 3:1-3 challenge or affirm our expectations about where and how we might experience God’s presence?

5. Consider how individuals like Abraham (Genesis 12), Moses (Exodus 3:1-3), Isaiah (Isaiah 6:8), and Paul (Acts 9) responded to God’s call, and the changes that followed. What does this suggest about the relationship between faith, obedience, and personal and corporate transformation?

6. Look at examples like Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:4-10), Jonah (Jonah 1), and Jesus’ instructions to His disciples (Matthew 10:16-22). Even when challenges or sacrifices are involved, how does God prepare and support those He calls? What can we learn about trusting God’s provision and strength in where he calls us?
