II Chronicles 7:13-15
Who Let America Down?

Introduction
1. America is not the America that I remember. America is going down fast! LBGTQ…Gender
Identification…Open borders…Education system that indoctrinates and not educates, etc.
2. Who let America down? America was to be a republic. It was not to be a democracy where
one more than the majority ruled. The left wing, Communist leaning crowd are now making
policy. Lying is not only accepted…it is expected. A White House by passes Congress and the
Senate through a series of executive orders which allows illegals to enter…pays off student
loans. We are nearly $36 trillion in debt. Morally and spiritually God is not considered.
3. Who let America down? Democrats, Republicans, the President, the House and Senate…all of the
above?? If anyone let down America it is the Church!
4. II Chronicles 7:13-15 God addresses His people. God addresses you and me.

Who let America down?
I. OUR FAILURE 7:13
God’s Pressure…Sin, Self and Satan has their way. What does it look like when God is
against a nation?
A.The Agent God
1.God acts against us.
2.God applies pressure. If I is used 3 times in verse 13. God sets up kings and puts them down. God resists the proud. Proud people are people who disagree with God. Proud people never admit they have a need.
B.The Affect
Proud people are so blind they cannot see their need. Proud people can never connect the dots that lead back to God.
1.Dried Up There is no rain. The wells dry up. Hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes,
climate change…’acts of nature.’ Wake up America. It’s a picture of the believer. There is no overflowing life. You go through the motions. There is no power in you walk with Christ! You say words, but there is no heart felt intimacy with God!
2.Devoured Nothing works. How does a nation get $36 trillion in debt? We stopped
living within our means. Greed…everything is about me and what I want! Nothing works…nothing sticks. We are never satisfied. There is little purpose or meaning in your life. Your satisfaction is no longer in a vital relationship with God. We substitute the artificial for the real: things, Activities, Pleasure, Recreation, Stuff. Your sufficiency is not in God!
3.Diseased If I send disease…the smarter we become the more disease we have that are
incurable: Venereal disease, cancer. dementia, mental and emotional disorders, sugar diabetes, autism. We aren’t as smart as we think we are. Christians are spiritually sick! We are a poor advertisement of a great God. The Church is walking, but it is waiting to die!

II. OUR FOUNDATION 7:14a
God’s People This is what made America great. If my people who are called by my name…
A. These Are Personalized
“My people”
1.He is not addressing the lost…not politicians…not greedy Wall Street.
2.We are addressed…But as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become children of God even to those who believe on His name. (John 1:12)
3.Today it would be those who identify with Jesus Christ.
B. These Are Propositioned
“Are called”
1.Called…Foreigners for a far (6:32)
2.To those who know Jesus Christ…we are called to salvation and to service.
C. These Are Precious
“By my name”
1.Called that’s my identity. These have answered His call and His cause.
2.Called by my name…Name implies His character. God wants to do a work in those who are His.

III. OUR FORMULA 7:14b
God’s Prescription In light of a desperate situation…the hour is dark and the situation is dire.
A. Submission
Humble themselves
1.Humble is to bow low.
2.There are 18 references in the Old Testament. In 15 of those a king submitted himself and nation to God. We are little kings. Humble people are people who agree with God. Humble people can to transparently honest. Humble people openly admit their need before God. Humble people have no right to claim…no applause to desire or deserve…
no recognition to demand.
B. Surrender
Pray
1.Pray is to admit your dependence on God.
2.The word means, to cut, to break, to evaluate. 80 of the 84 times the word in Hebrew is hithpael ‘to invoke God, to ask God to evaluate…to ask God to cut, to break.
3.We need to allow God to do a major surgery in us. God, do a work in me!
C. Seek
Seek my face
1.To root word is basically a person’s earnest seeking for someone or something.
2.It’s intention is that the object be found…to do so:
*One must hunger and thirst after righteousness.
*There must be a holy dissatisfaction with your present spiritual condition.
D. Sacrifice
Turn from their wicked ways
1.Turn is to repent. That is man’s responsibility in the process.
2.It is hard to admit we are going our way and not His.
3.It’s hard to admit that our way is selfish and wicked. There must be a sacrificing of our way to His Word…His Will…His Way…not Mine!

IV. OUR FOUNTAIN 7:14c
God’s Promise Then and only then will God step in. God is the only answer to
America’s woes. Judgment must begin with the household of God!
A. The Person
“I will…”
1.I will…It’s all of God’
2.It’s all of grace. God does it…we can’t! When He does it then He receives all the glory!
B. The Promise
1. I will hear It’s the heart He has broken, cut…that’s the prayer that moves heaven.
2. I will forgive God is the only One who can forgive sin. Call it what it is…not mistakes,
personality quirks…call it sin!
3. I will heal Only God can heal homes, hearts, and lives.

Who let America down?
God’s people.
Are you the Christian you ought to be?
Have you quit calling sin, sin?
Are you willing to come clean with God?
