We are currently going through a sermon series in the Gospel of Matthew. Today, we’re talking about a passage where Jesus teaches the crowd many parables about the Kingdom of God.
Message Outline: Have you ever wondered what God’s Kingdom really is and what it looks like? As we read through this part of God’s Word, we find out. Jesus teaches several parables, illuminating what God’s Kingdom is like. As we read about it, we learn that…
1. The Kingdom of God is already yet, but not quite yet.
Matthew 13:24-26 English Standard Version
The Parable of the Weeds
24 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds[a] among the wheat and went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.
Matthew 13:31-33 English Standard Version
The Mustard Seed and the Leaven
31 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
33 He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”
Hebrews 2:8-9 English Standard Version
8 putting everything in subjection under his feet.”
Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. 9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
John 18:36 English Standard Version
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”
1 John 3:2 English Standard Version
2 Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears[a] we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
Luke 11:2 English Standard Version
2 And he said to them, “When you pray, say:
“Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Mark 10:15 English Standard Version
15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Matthew 13:24-26 English Standard Version

2. Are Kingdom minded
3. Are on guard against the attacks of the enemy
