Truth & Love | Week 7 | Ken LaMont
1 John 4:7-21
LOVE’S SOURCE:
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. – 1 John 4:7-8
LOVE’S SACRIFICE:
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
- 1 John 4:9-10
LOVE SHARED:
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. - 1 John 4:11-12
RESPONDING TO GOD’S LOVE:
Sermon Recap:
Pastor Ken discussed the profound nature of love, emphasizing that it originates from God and is the essence of His being. He highlighted that true love is not based on emotions or conditions but is demonstrated through self-sacrifice, as evidenced by Jesus’ atoning sacrifice for humanity's sins. The pastor encouraged the congregation to not only accept God's love but also to share it, reflecting God's character in their interactions with others. Ultimately, he urged everyone to embrace and spread the message that they are loved by God, which is crucial in healing the brokenness in the world.
