The problem with “almost truths” is that they almost work.
"Nobody expects you to be perfect."
Matthew 5:48 NIV “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
Perfection is not a prize to achieve, but a promise to receive.
being made perfect: the process of becoming like Jesus so we can love God and love people the same way Jesus does
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
How do we partner with God in His plans to make us perfect?
1.Remove your pride.
Matthew 11:28 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened ...”
Pride always leads to shame.
2.Receive His grace.
Matthew 11:28 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV ... “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” …
3.Respond with obedience.
Matthew 11:28-29 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
What pride do you need to remove?
What grace do you need to receive?
What step of obedience do you need to take?
Matthew 11:30 NIV “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 5:48 NIV “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
