Facing Our Fears: Fear of the Lord
Matthew 10:26-31
October 20, 2024
Matthew 10:26-28
26 “So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.
Matthew 10:26-28
28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body...
Matthew 10:26-28
28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Matthew 10:26-28
28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Psalm 34:11
Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Psalm 33:8
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him.
Psalm 2:11
Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.
Jeremiah 5:22
“Should you not fear me?” declares the Lord. “Should you not tremble in my presence?”
Isaiah 8:13
The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.
Isaiah 6:5
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Revelation 1:17
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.
Revelation 1:17
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid.”
Matthew 10:29-31
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Whenever you allow your fears of the temporal life to become greater than your fear of the Lord, you will miss out on your greater purpose in life.
Psalm 34: 7
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
Psalm 34:9
Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.
Psalm 128:1
Blessed are all who fear the Lord…
Psalm 103:13
…the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.
Proverbs 14:26-27
Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but a love for God is the goal.
1 John 4:17-18
17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
God’s goal isn’t for you to conform to his rules.
God’s goal is for you to be transformed by his love.
