Description: Knowing how to vote is not the same as knowing how to thrive in a contentious political climate. How can Christians can maintain hope, resilience, and spiritual strength? Drawing from Romans 12:9-21, we'll explore how occupying ourself by living a daily life of love, generosity, and zeal in serving the Lord helps us to resist our worst political instincts. With Christ as our King, believers can withstand the extreme conditions in our culture and flourish despite the pressures around them.
The Partisan Clobberer:
• Has great zeal for his politics but not for Christ
• Thinks highly of his own opinions
• Eager to beat the people he sees as opponents
• Easily conquered by his passions
Conquering evil requires us to be preoccupied with doing good.
1. In turbulent times we must thrive spiritually
A thriving relationship with the king of kings will help you avoid being swayed by politicians
The quality of our Christian friendships must be deeper than the problems we're confronted with
Your highest commitment is to keep your PASSION for the Lord burning hot
2. In turbulent times we must behave honorably
People are not always watching everything we do, but someone is probably
watching at least MOST of the things you do
To get rid of the report [that the fire was an inside job], Nero fastened the
guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their
abominations, called Christians by the populace.

Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty
during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius
Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment,
again broke out not only in Judæa, the first source of the evil, but even in
Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world
find their centre and become popular. Accordingly, an arrest was first made
of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense
multitude was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of
hatred against mankind. (Tacitus, Annals 15.44)
3. In turbulent times we must EMBODY GRACE
