Forgiveness is worth studying.

1) It is largely misunderstood.
2) It is not a natural response.
3) It is costly.
4) It is not viewed with the importance that it deserves.
5) It is costly.

Receiving and granting genuine forgiveness is extremely important.

1) It is a universal need – there is something inside all of us that cries out to be forgiven and yes, even to give forgiveness.
2) It has a great effect on our emotions – not receiving or granting proper forgiveness can lead to emotions such as disappointment, fear, unhappiness, bitterness, anger, resentment, etc.
3) It has a great effect on us physically – receiving or granting proper forgiveness can lead to higher levels of energy in our lives because it leads to better quality of sleep, increased peacefulness, less stress, clearer thinking, and overall better health.
4) It has a great effect on our relationships – without forgiveness there is no hope of reconciliation between us and other people when we have sinned against each other.
5) It is something that God has done for us through Christ’s sacrificial work on the cross for our sins - and therefore something he is going to hold those of us who have received his forgiveness accountable for.
