Be Humble

Be Humble

We’re really uncomfortable with the idea that an all-powerful, all-loving God could stop suffering but doesn’t. But could he have a reason for allowing suffering that we don’t know about or don’t acknowledge as valuable? Join in as we explore what we can learn from the story of one famous sufferer in the Bible about how to face life (and God) When Trouble Comes.

Beyond Sunday

Growing with Jesus isn’t just for Sundays. Make it an everyday, everywhere, with everyone mission by going “beyond Sunday”!

Engage in these resources on your own and with your Grow Group*, family, or a friend:

Grow
• Watch this Bible Project video (npberean.org/beyond4) to learn how Job’s painful story teaches us to trust God’s wisdom.
• Look up “humility” in a dictionary. Which one best fits the kind of humility we see in this story? Why?

Share
• Today’s sermon encourages us to “be humble.” What is one tangible way you can practice humility this week?
• Spend some time “reflecting on God’s Preeminence.” Then share your reflections with someone who needs to be remember how incomparable God is.

Connect
• Discuss ways we may fail to recognize (or accept) our place in comparison to God. Why do we do this?
• Where do you need to repent of pride? Confess this to another believer and then pray together. (James 5:16)
• Explore Ephesians 2:1-10 together to prepare for next week’s sermon.

* Connecting in community with other believers is crucial for spiritual growth. Explore group options at npberean.org/gg
