Reminders about Christ's Love

Christ’s love for us is marked by the elements of being SACRIFICIAL, UNCONDITIONAL, and FAITHFUL.

But we're not just learning this for knowledge sake--Christ has an expectation that we will also be imitating it in our lives.
He cares about what's inside (two OT verses)

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)

“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” (Jeremish 17:10)
They had heard it said...

They perverted it by OMISSION - meaning they left a part out. They perverted it by ADDITION - meaning they added a part to it.
But Jesus says...

"Love your neighbor." Our neighbor is anyone in our proximity with whom we can share the love of Christ.
The home is really a natural training ground for demonstrating the love of Christ, because if we are imitating Christ in this way, we will…

Have to lovingly choose to FORGIVE someone of the hurt and pain they have caused us.

Have to lovingly choose to BEAR WITH AND BE LONGSUFFERING TOWARD someone’s annoying habits and griminess.

Have to lovingly choose to SERVE someone without expecting anything in return.

Have to lovingly choose to SACRIFICE things that you want to do in order to do something that someone else wants to do.
Working gives us many opportunities to show the love of Christ.

Show up to work on time and work hard.

Be a trustworthy employee.

Be demonstrating a high level of kindness, patience, and longsuffering.
As we seek to love our neighbors as ourselves in the space of our community, one of the things it will mean is that we will take the time to look across the landscape of where God has planted us and look for opportunities where we can involve ourselves to show the beautiful love of God to others.
